Puerto Aventuras Yachts are great for all types of people looking to enjoy some time out on the water. Whether you are planning on taking the kids out to Ihna reef to see some sea turtles, or you want to enjoy some cocktails and music with your friends on a sunset tour, the Puerto Aventuras area has a boat rental for you. There are also some options for groups looking to have a celebration with drinks and dance music while cruising the Mexican Caribbean.
This upscale marina community is about an hour’s drive south of Cancun and has a lot to offer its visitors. Its location makes it a popular choice for vacationing families, snow-birds and well-off expat retirees. It’s safe and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
The main attraction is its yacht-filled harbor, which is Mexico’s largest. Boat rentals and tours are plentiful here, and the marina’s restaurants have a unique vibe because they’re on the dolphin lagoon and overlook the yachts, catamaran and fishing boats moored beyond the boardwalk. The restaurants here have a variety of cuisines and some feature live music.
There are plenty of activities and things to do around Puerto Aventuras, including golfing, snorkeling, sailing and scuba diving. The beaches are beautiful and many of them have rocky points where it’s exhilarating to jump off the boat into the deep blue waters, or just stroll along the sand and take in the spectacular view.
Those who want to explore the Riviera Maya underwater will love the dive shops here, which are abundant and well-staffed. There are even a couple of PADI-certified dive masters on hand to help guide beginners and advanced divers. A variety of scuba dive sites are within easy reach, including the famous Yucatan Wall and the wreck of the SS San Cristobal.
Sailing is another popular activity here, and there are two sailing companies that operate out of the marina, as well as a few private boats available for rent. A number of companies also offer day trips from the resort, and it’s possible to book all-inclusive packages.
If you’re planning to spend a long time here, it might be worth renting a car. This will allow you to travel farther afield and discover more of the Riviera Maya, as well as make it easier to visit Cancun and other popular destinations in a short amount of time.
The marina at Puerto Aventuras is the main transportation hub for the region, so buses and colectivo vans will stop here as they make their way from Cancun to Playa del Carmen or Tulum. You can also find taxis on the road in front of the marina. There are also a few ATMs in the vicinity and at the marina’s entrance, as well as two currency exchange locations. Mexican pesos and American dollars are both widely accepted at most restaurants and stores in the area.
